Walworth Castle Darlington wedding - Daniel & Jenna - 23/03/19

The history of Walworth Castle dates back as far as 1150, we’re getting close to having to add AD at the end of the year with these incredible venues. Magnificent and regal, Walworth Castle was the venue I had the pleasure of joining Daniel and Jenna at on their wedding day.

Charismatic and full of life, Jenna filled the room with conversation and laughter from the moment I arrived, we instantly started sharing ideas on the great day ahead and all the photos we would be taking throughout.

The entire day was a celebration of love and life, filled with cheer and high spirits neither of which dropped throughout. Thank you to Daniel and Jenna for inviting me along on their wedding day, and to everyone involved who made it such a special day.

Shotton Hall County Durham Wedding Photographer - Ashley & Adam - 25/05/19

“With its sweeping driveway and 17½ acres of picturesque gardens, Shotton Hall represents a fine example of a mid 18th century country house and is one of only a few still surviving in the area.”

Straight from the horses mouth as they say. Shotton Hall is a stunning venue surrounded by incredible gardens and grounds, totally spoilt for choice when it comes to photo opportunities, smashing my expectations of what to expect, I felt like a kid in a sweet shop.

The morning started with a visit to the family home where Ashley, the bridesmaids and her family were all hands of deck with the morning prep. Champagne and conversation were flowing, Ashley was as cool as a cucumber, full of life and very excited for the day ahead, always with a smile as big as the Cheshire Cat. The pulse of the morning steadily began to increase as the clock ticked away. There was always something going on and plenty to keep me busy.

I said my fair wells and moved on to Shotton Hall to begin setting up for the ceremony and the day ahead. Adam was just as calm and collected, ready to finally marry the woman he loves. It was a fantastic and heartwarming ceremony with plenty of tears and just as much laughter, all making for a beautiful start to their married life.

The staff at Shotton Hall were all very accommodating and extremely helpful throughout the day. After all the formal photography was sorted, I whisked the newlyweds away taking them on a tour around the grounds to utilise the fantastic gardens for their personal portraiture, such good fun and made all the more pleasurable when all I see through my lens is a couple constantly laughing and enjoying each others company. I always tell my couples, if I’m not saying much while I shoot It’s because I like what I see and don’t want to interfere, with Adam and Ashely I barely said a word, their love for one another was oozing out and falling through my lens. totally infectious, completely made my day.

The day kept getting better and better as time went on, friends, family and everyone involved were a pleasure to be in the company of and I knew we had stacks of awesome imagery from the day.

Ashley’s bouquet was arranged by Sarah, florist and owner of Bees & Butterflies Flowers.

A big shoutout to Shelly Croan, a wonderful bridesmaid and fantastic artist who makes handmade, crocheted items with love and care. I got a few items ordered in and can’t wait for the winter just so I can wear them to my weddings. You can find her on facebook as The Crafty Croan.

Lartington Hall Teesdale Wedding - Matthew & Rachel

The United Kingdom really is an amazing place to reside, especially when it comes to choosing a venue for your wedding day. We are saturated with rich culture, history and diversity, not only in our unique regions but in our buildings as well. We’re also lucky that a lot of this heritage lies within the north east, a big reason why being a north east wedding photographer is such an exciting career.

Matthew and Rachel chose Lartington Hall as their wedding venue (I don’t envy all you couples when it comes to picking your wedding venue, where do you start!). Lartington Hall is a 17th-century country house at Lartington, Teesdale, County Durham, England. It is a Grade II* listed building and one of many incredible estates as part of our English Heritage.

Upon my arrival I joined Rachel and her bridesmaids for their morning prep. The atmosphere from the get go was filled with laughter and excitement, the kind you really only find with a group of people who know one another so intimately. This made my morning fly by and created stacks of lovely moments for me to photograph.

When I later went to meet the guys who were all arriving in good time, I was unaware that Matthew had a twin brother, this made for some interesting and rather funny interactions throughout the day. I eventually started to pick up who was who, just before my day was over!

Matthew and Rachel were a real pleasure to be with throughout their day. Full of charm, charisma and a real tenderness towards one another which was a real delight to witness.

We were spoilt for choice with Lartington Hall’s amazing grounds, without a doubt some of the finest throughout the North East. A beautiful day lead into a joyous evening of cocktails, music and a sprinkling of rain, not that that stopped us from going outside for one last photograph!

Thank you Matthew and Rachel for inviting me to your glorious wedding.

Lumley Castle, County Durham Wedding Photographer - Nick & Alix

Lumley Castle is a 14th century castle situated next to Durham County Cricket Ground. Today the castle is a luxurious hotel and wedding venue, chosen by Nick and Alix to host their fairytale wedding.

English castles are filled with heritage, rich stories and vast history, what a privilege it is to be able to expand upon this tapestry of time with your own love story, what an honour it is to be able to photograph such an incredible occasion for two people so deeply in love.

The first time I met Alix and Nick was at Lumley Castle over 8 months before their wedding day. I joined them both for a coffee and was immediately struck by their collective charm and charisma, I remember leaving feeling very humbled in knowing I had just met two very special people.

I’ve since worked alongside Alix on a few photographic projects throughout the North East, her work ethic and professionalism is a pleasure to be in the presence of and to learn from.

Nick and Alix’s modesty towards life and love shone through during their wedding which was purely about the people around them. All they wanted was for me to photograph the day for what it was, they didn’t want any personal portraiture on their day so I had to be very subtle and tactful in executing a little something for them.

It was a fantastically magnificent day, a real joy from start to finish and a reminder of why being a North East Wedding Photographer is single handedly creating some of the best and most satisfying moments of my life to date.
