Lumley Castle is a 14th century castle situated next to Durham County Cricket Ground. Today the castle is a luxurious hotel and wedding venue, chosen by Nick and Alix to host their fairytale wedding.
English castles are filled with heritage, rich stories and vast history, what a privilege it is to be able to expand upon this tapestry of time with your own love story, what an honour it is to be able to photograph such a incredible occasion for two people so deeply in love.
The first time I met Alix and Nick was at Lumley Castle over 8 months before their wedding day. I joined them both for a coffee and was immediately struck by their collective charm and charisma, I remember leaving feeling very humbled in knowing I had just met two very special people.
I’ve since worked alongside Alix on a few photographed projects throughout the North East, her work ethic and professionalism is a pleasure to be in the presence of and to learn from.
Nick and Alix’s modesty towards life and love shone through during their wedding which was purely about the people around them. All they wanted was for me to photograph the day for what it was, they didn’t want any personal portraiture on their day so I had to be very subtle and tactful in executing a little something for them.
It was a fantastically magnificent day, a real joy from start to finish and a reminder of why being a North East Wedding Photographer is single handedly creating some of the best and most satisfying moments of my life to date.
