Shotton Hall County Durham Wedding Photographer - Ashley & Adam

“With its sweeping driveway and 17½ acres of picturesque gardens, Shotton Hall represents a fine example of a mid 18th century country house and is one of only a few still surviving in the area.”

Straight from the horses mouth as they say. Shotton Hall is a stunning venue surrounded by incredible gardens and grounds, totally spoilt for choice when it comes to photo opportunities, smashing my expectations of what to expect, I felt like a kid in a sweet shop.

The morning started with a visit to the family home where Ashley, the bridesmaids and her family were all hands of deck with the morning prep. Champagne and conversation were flowing, Ashley was as cool as a cucumber, full of life and very excited for the day ahead, always with a smile as big as the Cheshire Cat. The pulse of the morning steadily began to increase as the clock ticked away. There was always something going on and plenty to keep me busy.

I said my fair wells and moved on to Shotton Hall to begin setting up for the ceremony and the day ahead. Adam was just as calm and collected, ready to finally marry the woman he loves. It was a fantastic and heartwarming ceremony with plenty of tears and just as much laughter, all making for a beautiful start to their married life.

The staff at Shotton Hall were all very accommodating and extremely helpful throughout the day. After all the formal photography was sorted, I whisked the newlyweds away taking them on a tour around the grounds to utilise the fantastic gardens for their personal portraiture, such good fun and made all the more pleasurable when all I see through my lens is a couple constantly laughing and enjoying each others company. I always tell my couples, if I’m not saying much while I shoot It’s because I like what I see and don’t want to interfere, with Adam and Ashely I barely said a word, their love for one another was oozing out and falling through my lens. totally infectious, completely made my day.

The day kept getting better and better as time went on, friends, family and everyone involved were a pleasure to be in the company of and I knew we had stacks of awesome imagery from the day.

A big shoutout to Shelly Croan, a wonderful bridesmaid and fantastic artist who makes handmade, crocheted items with love and care. I got a few items ordered in and can’t wait for the winter just so I can wear them to my weddings. You can find her on facebook as The Crafty Croan.
