The Assembly Rooms Wedding Photographer - Nick & Natalie

WOW, we could not have chosen a more perfect, attentive and skilled photographer than Marco. We were sold the moment we saw his amazing portfolio, when we met him in person, his enthusiasm and happy manner radiates into the room. Marco was an absolute delight to work with from the word go. His personal attention and sweet nature made the whole planning process so relaxed. It was a comfort to know we were working with such a professional who can command a room so easily. He was more like a friend at the wedding rather than a photographer. We are so grateful to Marco for capturing our special day, we absolutely love our photos. [...] We lost count of all the guests who commented on how amazing he was. Marco was able to direct the group photos without being intrusive or overbearing and throughout the day he blended into the scene perfectly. We adore Marco, he absolutely blew us away with his talent. We couldn’t have wished for anything more and we will recommend Marco 100 times over! Is it possible to give more than 5 stars?

The Assembly Rooms, set in the heart of newcastle upon tyne city centre, is one of the city’s finest and grandest Georgian buildings dating back to 1776 (thanks Google). This was the location Nick and Natalie picked as their wedding venue and what a fine venue it is.

I knew before I had taken a single photo that day that we were going to get some great imagery and potentially some cool street photography. What a great opportunity to wonder the urban streets of Newcastle city centre, just to soak up the atmosphere and embed it in their photo collection. Before checking in with Natalie and her bridesmaids at the adjacent hotel, I spent some time walking the streets to pick up some ideas and scout photo opportunities. I was walking around with my phone in hand like a compass, checking the suns location at certain times of the day via a nifty app, it makes a big difference with regards to the lighting and location. One spot I had found was the Grainger Street metro station stairway. I took a few quick pics and said “I’ll be back”.

On to the lovely bride and groom, a young couple full of life, love, charm and laughter. Spending the day with them was a real treat. I remember walking in on Natalie and her bridesmaids early in the afternoon as they were all eating and relaxing in their hotel room, we instantly hit it off and I was reeling in some cracking images with minimal effort.

I was in constant communication with Nick and went down to meet him when he arrived, cool and collected on the outside, but the wedding day nerves and energy was very much there for me to photograph. We had some time together during his prep, chatting and snapping away. Shortly later their guests began to arrive as Natalie ferried her entourage over to The Assembly Rooms for her final touches. A little dancing and ducking for cover was required while they shifted around the guests without being seen and within a hairs breadth of Nick in his unconventional prep room.

The rest of the day went swimmingly and without a hitch. Considering the forecast had been rain and heavy meatballs for the week running up to their wedding, we were surprisingly blessed with gorgeous sunshine and rainbow skittles, plus the opportunity to bring my early photo plans to fruition.

A massive thank you to our lovely bride and groom, their fantastic crew and all their friends and family for making the day what it was.

You all rock and Newcastle rocks.
